Refurbished iPad doing strange things April 6, 2012

I got a refurbished iPad from apple yesterday, it's behaving strangely.

It registers what seems like ghost touches, launching apps or going berserk with the keyboard. Sometimes its ok, other times it becomes unusable.

Does anyone have any idea on what is going on?

I've had suggestions that it is hardware, the capacitive touch shorting out (thanks to my brother Dan for pointing me to this) so taking it to Apple to have a look tomorrow. Others say that it is temperature, and it does indeed go away when it is warm. 

Maybe it is just a ghost?
